Pump gas? Race gas? Roller cam? How fast are you trying to go?

Most all of the "shelf stock" pistons are going to be for the stock for. They're going to have a 1/16", 1/16", 3/16" ring package. You could have something made, Vic Ellenger at Wiseco will hook you up.

Alan,

E-85 Roller cam, I would be stoked to be in the mid to low 9's or in the 5's eight mile. Local we just have 1/8th 1/4 is over 5 hours since HRP is gone. I really appreciate your insights. I can post up my cam specs to. Would I be better off with a open chamber head? 990 or 088?

An open chamber head will flow better. But you can make big power with a closed chamber head.

Cam specs might help.

How much HP do you need to achieve your goal?

I will ask this question a different way. What is the race weight with you in it for you vehicle?

So you need a solid 750-770HP. To be honest, that will not be easy with a 427, You're going to need a 288/298/108 or so cam and at least an 850 carburetor, and that assumes a good intake and heads. Rod length will not make a difference, you'll need about 12.25:1 compression. You're going to end up with what amounts to an average Super Stock engine, but you can use a better carburetor and get there easier. You could use any good shelf stock closed chamber 427 piston. Should be able to get one from Wiseco or JE, for sure.
