My guess would be to try another convertor. While you have it out look hard at the stator support shaft...sheared one in my metric.

Had similar issue with my 200, couldn't do a burnout seemed like it was all on the converter and the car kept slowing down. New there was something wrong but was going rounds, the car kept slowing, lost in the semi. A clutch pack was burned up the cause may have been a slightly long drive shaft pushing the stack forward. Repaired and freshened the trans and converter also shortened the drive shaft and problem never reappeared.
