60 ft varies and no wheel speed in burnout
 

Last weekend I had trouble burning out. No smoke and guys watching said I had no wheel speed during burnout. Also felt funny when coming out of water onto dry part of the track. Then on Sunday my 60 would vary .07 and of course et would also be way off. It felt like it was spinning and it was definatly not picking up the front end like it should when the 60 was slow. Then when the 60 picked up, it felt way better on the launch. Guys watching said I was not spinning. Did it in both lanes. Converter going? I thought it might be carb or fuel, but with the wheel speed issue in the burnout, I'm thinking converter. Thoughts?

My guess would be to try another convertor. While you have it out look hard at the stator support shaft...sheared one in my metric.

Had similar issue with my 200, couldn't do a burnout seemed like it was all on the converter and the car kept slowing down. New there was something wrong but was going rounds, the car kept slowing, lost in the semi. A clutch pack was burned up the cause may have been a slightly long drive shaft pushing the stack forward. Repaired and freshened the trans and converter also shortened the drive shaft and problem never reappeared.

Definitely check the stater support on the metric 200.

Dave, if I recall correctly your 200 has a pressed in steel stator support. They don't break but will occasionally spin out the serrations. Put a big set of water pump pliers on it and make sure it won't turn. If you need a convertor quick, call Grant Eldridge, I think he still has one for sale.

Production 200/200-C have a one piece casting for the pump cover and stator shaft. Is there an aftermarket company that makes a pump cover with a pressed in stator shaft ?
