Time to find an 800# Eaton Posi.
1995 Impala SS 8.5 Inch Rear. My 400lb will not hold the launch RPM. Over 2500 rpm the Tires become unhinged. At or below launches fine. Use to hit it at 3000 when the rear Brakes Held the Torque. That is another fix coming. Driving to the tracks and street most likely weakened the Grip Capability. Want to buy a Eaton 800# but need advice the on better Clutch Pack. Will then rebuild the current one but need advice on which Clutch Pack to use or have it Rebuilt. Dan |

Yeah, seriously thought about that..! A new Posi would be twice the cost to rebuild but simpler quicker to install. PN for the Springs is $90, Carbon Disks another $119.00. It is still good for the street and drag racing. Have the option keeping it for a street project, the 94 Caprice SSuperwagon being set up for towing or sell to a B-Body racer. Should be a wash after selling it. In past have rebuilt a 12bolt Moroso Posi with new Springs from Al's Differentials. Built a clamp tool out of 2x4 and to force them inside the cavity with a hammer. Eaton has three types of clutch service kits. OE, 18 disc (standard), 24 disc (high performance), the modern day, high tech 14 disc carbon fiber design. Last night studied all about their characteristics. Still need advice on which of the last 2 to buy. Dan |

Call the Eaton tech line: 800-328-3250 Either Barney or Brent should be able to steer you in the right direction.
