Tree,
I picked up some stuff called Fluid Film at the PRI last year. This stuff is GREAT! It says "for quick and effective corrosion control and lubricant". Get some and fog the blocks with it. No rust or corrosion again! Jim

WOW! If this is true, I have git to try this! Those parts look as if they are brand new off of the shelf! Hard to believe. Jim

Wow!

That's some amazing results but I would have to buy it by the 5 gal.cans in order to soak a block.

I think I'll fill my parts washer with the stuff, not only will it clean parts but if we have a fish fry all you have to do is dunk the fish in the parts washer if you want vinegar.......cool!

You can use white Vinegar, also. Vinegar is acidic and will fairly gently remove the rust from metal, but be gentler on the other parts. I would rather use it over the more aggressive products on the likely chance it gets on things I don't want hurt.

I've had good luck using electrolysis on cylinder heads,should work good on a block. Just need a large plastic garbage can,battery charger(adjustable),soda wash and away you go.

Here is something that really works.

Get a plastic 55 gal. drum, add ~20 gal. of water, and 2 gal. of molasses (or any other 10:1 ratio quantity).

Let it sit covered for 3 or 4 days.

Place the engine block (or any other rusted metal) in the solution and let it sit for ~2 days.

It will look like new with all of the rust removed from every nook and crannie. The fermentation process that takes place causes the solution to react with iron oxide (rust) and not with iron. The solution is good for about 3 to 4 months.

The negative side of this process is the odor. After a week or two it can really begin to smell, so keep it covered.

You can buy molasses at a farmers feed store or on the internet.

But what if a bear eats your rare heads or block?
