Block Rust Removal
I have several blocks that were already machined but a thunder storm blew out the back wall of the garage and the humidity caused the blocks to surface rust on all machined surfaces.
Anyone know a good way to clean them up? JimR |
Re: Block Rust Removal
ever try soda blasting??? Seems to work with no metal removal---you blast it, wash it off with water then blow dry to remove water and spray Blaster or a marine fogger to protect from rusting--Comp 387

Re: Block Rust Removal
Jim, You can try getting a bottle of metal prep solution from ypur local body supply house......It's a very dilute acid made for prepping bare metal before bodywork. ...I've used it to clean cylinder walls that had light rust. .........just be sure to neutralize the surfaces with clear water and blow dry before oiling them down

Re: Block Rust Removal
We have used vinegar for rust on guns and tools. Works pretty well, plus it should kill any yeast infection.
