Make sure you use a fan motor that puts out enough CFM. A lot of the aftermarket units are designed to be used in conjunction with the stock fan, not by itself.
We used a unit in our Chevelle from a Cadillac XLR. It is a puller type. The fan and shroud is a stand alone unit. No cooling problems and moves a lot of air. It also fit like with little alteration.
