Since it sounds like there might be 4 points races at St Louis next year, why not make one of them a Sportnationals so us racers in the midwest can have a chance to run class at an event near us. Maybe we could just have a points race with class? I think Div. 5 does has a points race with class at Brainerd since the National event there does not have class anymore.

I would think the fact they already run class at Jeg's Sports Nats and Indy (both D3) would deter them from scheduling class at another D3 event.
Each division usually gets just one opportunity for class, sometimes 2 Just my .02 |

Right. A response was that there wouldn't be any sportsnationals unless it was close to Jegs. Get another sponsor to have one at St Louis or Brainerd and call it a D5 sportsnationals.

FWIW, I was so impressed with Tri State my first trip there I asked Reed (Reid?) about hosting a Sports there. I knew him before that during my musclecar restoration days which he was a part of also.
He laughed, and explained about how NHRA's payment scheme for a SN would cost a significant amount of money more than running a divisional. I don't remember the specifics, but it had to do with the percentage of money going to the NHRA increasing a bunch and the money the track was allowed to keep falling into the basement. So if a big sponsor could be lined up to help the track at least break even that could work. And having watched the new ownership at St Louis since they've been there, they are pretty good at things like that. |
