Wanted, Chevy 400 bare trans case for mockup
It is OK if the case is cracked or has other problems. As long as it will bolt up to a block and the rear mount is intact.

On the San Antonio TX Craigs list there is a core for 200$. We shopped for a while and found one for 50$ earlier this year.
