Good morning and Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all, I know this weekend is all about racing at the Grove, grilling on the BBQ but let's remember the true meaning of this holiday! Let's remember all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country.
We are not on the road yet as like last weekend, some of us have to work a 1/2 a day today but, should be getting to one of my favorite race tracks on tour and Maple Grove around 3pm. Hopefully I have a little better cell service this weekend then last weekend and can help out KM. It will be also great to see some of the improvements since the last visit that Kyle Koretsky and Family have put into the place. I can tell you Kyle has been busting his butt putting shine to the place that was needed for about 20 years, Him and I chat on the phone almost every week about new ideas and programs he wants to bring to the place in the upcoming years. I'm sure Keith will be chiming in with some thoughts and insight as it seems since he's started doing these "live froms" he's been in the finals of all of the events.....boy I wish I could say the same, I keep running into D1 Champ Mike Handras every race in the early rounds. From the CR reports on the Stk/SS side it sounds like around 400+ entries that are registered, which is definitely down over the normal count of about 550 to 600. I will try to get some pics and post once we get on the road and set-up. Remember to stop by and sign the card for Will Munroe this weekend at my trailer and if you have any Team Shirts or Stickers you'd like to donate, I'll be doing a care package for him and sending it his way on Monday! Till later Rob Keister 1198 SG Mid Atlantic .90 President |

So once again the internet struck where I was parked, for some reason it seems like my password on my main computer doesn't link up to my phone and even when I reset it, it locks me out.
As Keith said it was a long weekend at the Grove but, hats off to Dave, Maple Grove & The D1 crew for the hard work to get it in before the 8pm Curfew last night. The car counts were significantly down compared to normal for this event (about 125-150 car) but, from what I have heard, gas prices, not being able to get parts and some carnage in the early season events are putting people on the sidelines. For some you have Epping and Leb Valley still to come before a week off so 8 out of 9 weekends to kick off the season has people picking and choosing. I think people are seeing the changes being put into the track and it's a work in progress. I know they did have some issues with the tree (Keith & DJ Cox on their buy runs) but, I talked with Kyle and Shane and they are planning a re-vamp to the track and timing system in the near future. You can tell they are going to turn the place into something special and are for the racers. For example, the concession stand was closed due to staff choosing other options, Kyle called in about 6 food trucks in the area and had them set-up in the court to help racers out with food....and I must say some of the food was outstanding (Tater Tot Truck was awesome). As Keith mentioned, weather was an issue as we had rain that pushed things back on Friday to everyone getting 1 TT and No Top 8 race, Friday Night we had Heavy Rain from about 10pm till 6am that came down in buckets that they had issues keeping rubber down on the track, so they had to scrape the whole track which led to a 2pm start time and Stock was the only one to get R1 in and Aly got 1 pair of Dragsters down before it started to rain again. It was an action packed Sunday but, they got it all done before the 8pm curfew. I'll have some pics later on. |
