Front wheel with more than 2 1/4" backspace
I am using a 26" front tire due to inner fender wheel clearance on my 1980 Camaro. The wheel is 15 x 3 1/2" with a 1 3/4" backspace. I see wheels with 2 1/4" backspace but I don't think that is enough. Does anyone know of a 15 x 3 1/2" wheel with more than 2 1/4" backspace? I hate the BMFH.
thanks, Ray

However, make sure you will have enough clearance for the brake caliper. |

Also check out Holeshot wheels. I think they make 1 front wheel with up to 2 and 7/8 offset . Probably a 15x4 though

Re: Front wheel with more than 2 1/4" backspace
SSDiv6 (I wish I knew your name) thanks for the tip. I will get in contact with them.
Jeff you are right Holshot makes a bigger backspace but the wheel is wider. I am trying to move the wheel towards the motor to get more clearance with the inner fender well. So a wider wheel with bigger backspace doesn' t help my problem. thank you for the help. Ray

If you call Bogart, try to reach Ricky and explain the situation and let him know the type of front brakes you are using. He is a wealth of knowledge and information as regards to drag racing wheels. Last edited by SSDiv6; 11-08-2021 at 03:08 PM. |

Re: Front wheel with more than 2 1/4" backspace
Thank Mike. You are better at finding wheels on Jeg's than I am. I spent a lot of time on the Jeg's site but could not make the filters work. You would think when you were shopping for a wheel there would be filters,
1. wheel diameter 2. wheel width 3. wheel backspace All Jeg's gives you is bolt pattern and backspace! No wheel diameter or width filter even exists! This is a good option Mike. Thanks! Ray https://www.jegs.com/i/Race-Star-Whe...7252P/10002/-1

Re: Front wheel with more than 2 1/4" backspace
G/SA I wish I knew your name. Your example made me dig deeper. We use the same inner fender well (1971 and 1980 are the same). So it is essentially the same car. I removed the wheel and made a bunch of measurements. I thought I have a 3.5" wide wheel. It is 4.5" wheel. So if I buy a 3.5" wheel that moves the center of the wheel in 0.5" right there. On top of this my Weld Wheel is a 1 7/16" backspace, not 1.75" like I thought. So I think your 3.5" wheel with 1.75" backspace moves the tire in about 13/16". I think that works even on paper. Thanks for taking the time to reply and get me off my behind. Ray
By the way I use Strange brakes. The rotors space the wheel out about 1/4"
