ProTrans350 transmission and Rear Gearing
So thinking about how to gear a SS 3250# Camaro with 402/308 BBC combo? With all the gear ratios available for ProTrans350, how do you decide what 1st and 2nd gear ratio is needed? What about rear gear?
Is starting line ratio still used? If so, what are you looking for? I hear of people having from 2.10-2.75 low gear, wondering what trends are now? |

Re: ProTrans350 transmission and Rear Gearing
My car is a lower classed stocker that hasn't run the index, ...... YET. (Its a 2bbl combo) I have a low gearset in its C4 and with the difference it's made, it is staying in there. Its lower than the 2.75 that you stated. I have read on this forum of some comp eliminator cars that are in 4th or 5th gear by the 330. I read in ND once a while back a tech article by WJ. In it he said to gear (rear) 5% over the point that the HP starts to fall off. I've read similar views posted here on ClassRacer.

Does Pro Trans still offer a free one time gear change when you purchase a new transmission? Helps when your starting with a new combo.
Good Luck..... Steve. STK. 6380. |
