Default SUFOLK RACEWAY home of the Little Guy Nats

What became of this track,went there in early 80,s ,man this was like going back in time,i remember they were painting and cleaning the place up as we drove in,.It was in rough shape but it drew a lot of cars

It belonged to the city of Suffolk and they decided they needed another runway for their airport. It like so may dragstrips from back in the day was a WWII training base and then was given to the city. I remember going to several Little Guy Nationals there. It was fast and you better have real good fillings in your teeth or they would fall out. Tom Slick and Sister Sally Evers where the last operators of the track.

Was in the Navy in Norfolk in early 70’s. Saw some great funny cars and pro stockers. Super Shaker, jungle Jim, USA-1 Bruce Larson and many others. I’ll try and find some of the pictures and post them.

I was there once in the mid-80s. It was rough then. As with many of these old tracks, there's a FB tribute page for the track.
