Can anybody tell me if there are restrictions on takeing my car and trailer into Canada?? We are thinking of going to the National Open and have heard there might be a few things to do, like bringing fuel in jugs might not be permitted. Thanks,,Tim Barrett H/SA 1925

we have ran across the border to Grand Bend and Cayuga for the last fifteen years with no problems... you'll hear a few scary stories from folks who happened to catch the Border guard on the wrong day -- but if you follow the instructions that most of the Canadian tracks make available (go to the Grand Bend website for more info), you shouldn't have any difficulty...
- doesn't hurt to carry an inventory list (the big stuff) - do NOT try to bring a gun across, and it's probably good to leave your staff of drugs, tobacco and alcohol at home too - tools, fuel, etc., are not a problem; big boxes of t-shirts to sell at track definitely are - take off your sunglasses, shut off noisy diesels if you've got one, be extra polite, honest, and have your citizenship paperwork (birth certificate or passport) available to hand to them right off the bat. If your crewchief is a convicted felon, leave him at home... - on the way back into the USA -- do NOT bring any meat back from Canada... they'll ask, they'll take it away, and if you have some that you don't declare that they find, they'll give you a big fine! All joking aside, other than the lines caused by holiday traffic sometimes, it's really not a big deal. Best of all, us Canadians are really nice people... Tim,
The last time I went to Canada, the US Customs asked me for proof of ownership of the racecar, which I did not have with me. They let me go, but they said they could have tied me up for hours proving that I owned the car. Greg |

After re-reading my comments, I hope you didn't take it that I was discouraging you from going as I have always had fun every time I went to Canada to race. The spectators truly appreciate the Stock and Super Stock cars.
