Default Head/Neck Restraint

Hey guys I'm making a big leap here this year and going from Super Street to Super Comp. Due to open body and a rather large jump in m.p.h. I have been looking into upgrading from a neck collar to a restraint system. I was looking at the Simpson Hybrid Sport but I'm curious how much can you turn your head with one of these? I'm used to driving from the front but that usually requires turning around a lot and although this may be different in the new car I still would like to have the option to turn my head! Any advice you can give would be great thanks... Joe

Ok, well Joe my son uses a Hans with a sliding quick release teathers and I would say that he has the ability to rotate his head a little more than 180 degrees which is almost as good as you can achieve with just a neck collar With your harness tight (you can rotate further if the harness is loose but it seriously comprises your safety I.e. Don't do it.)
In my opinion the neck collar actually does very little for your safety but a
A HANS device, if you keep the harness tight, just might save your life some day.

You will get many different opinions on this. I would try all of them on yourself, and if at all possible, get in your car. Go with what is most comfortable to you.
I personally like the Necksgen Rev. I had one of the early Defender and loved it. But once I got a new car, I hated it. I felt suffocated in the car.
I believe it is more of a personal choice of comfort. But one of the smartest safety investments you can make. I watched my best friend barrel roll his super gas car across the finish line. He broke his neck wearing only a collar. It took four neck surgeries to get him fixed. His vocal chords were damaged, and now he is hard to hear because his voice is so soft.
The doctor said that neck collar is a joke. I truly believe a head/neck restraint system should be required at any speed over 135. But theres my humble .02.
