Default Anyone Else Having Trouble Getting a Duplicate Wally?

In early November, I sent the required NHRA form and a check for two duplicate class win trophies. I was told it would take about 2-3 weeks to get them done. Four months later, I'm still being told two more weeks. Has anyone else ordered trophies last year and still not received them? Is this length of time typical?

The only person who answers the phone recently revealed that the wooden bases are not coming in from China, because of a dock strike in California, but I doubt a strike has been ongoing for all four months. That could be true, but whenever someone delays because material isn't available from any source anywhere, I wonder if there isn't really a non-payment issue at the heart of it.

I keep notes on all of my business calls- here are the notes on my contacts with Am. Dragway:

Sent check with NHRA form 11/7/4 for duplicate class win trophies. Cleared bank 11/11/14.

1/6/2015 10:12 AM acurcio: left mess on general mailbox- outgoing message still says closed until Jan 5th- today is the 6th

1/27/2015 1:29 PM acurcio: left follow up message for Ben- he said he'd ship it 2 weeks from the day we spoke, Jan 7th. Today, 3 weeks later, the outgoing message says he's out until Feb. 4th

2/5/2015 12:25 PM acurcio: Said he got the plate done, ran out of bases, should be this week or next

3/7/2015 8:43 AM acurcio: called yesterday- was told bases are not available because of a dock strike in California. Should be ready in, you guessed it, "two weeks".

The dock strike is very real, so it could be a real excuse.

The dock strike is very real. Perishable commodities are rotting away, many businesses are unable to get products in or out. It's a real mess out here!

Why would you buy wood bases from China?

Why don't they hire people that want to do the work then?

On a similar note, I haven't received my jacket from winning the Northern SportsNationals in September. I was told to contact the manufacturer directly. Odd, as I would think that NHRA is the one that placed the order... Been so wide-open busy that I'd forgotten about it til now.

The dock strike has and will continue to affect many things. The dock workers were instructed by union leaders to "work safe" which is code word for slow down to put the hurt on the company financially for labor negotiations. It will is estimated to take another 3-6months before shipping returns to normal. There are still 29 ships anchored in the bay awaiting their turn.

It has affected many businesses just some line workers may not understand how much because they are not privy to some of the information behind the scenes.

So it's plausible this is affecting your situation also.

If your supply is disrupted for months, why not find a small quantity supplier elsewhere?
NHRA awards about 300 big Wallies and maybe 2500 small Wallies per year. Get an order of 100-300 made locally until the shipping backlog gets caught up. Doing nothing has got to be making a bad cash flow situation worse. It's what you do to save your own business.

What happens if the regular season gets further underway, and the shipment still hasn't arrived?

I understand how the Gap can't turn on a dime and get 2 million khaki's sewn in Chicago when their Malaysian supply is delayed, but we're talking 10 pieces per day here. In fact, how much could they possibly be saving by importing a few thousand pieces of finished mahogany? Get a back up source!

TONY.

Have you lost your mind spouting common sense like that? Have you thought about what that would do to the NHRA executive salary/bonus schedule? Tom C., et. al. won't be having any of that kind of thinking. I'd be surprised if your NHRA Competition Number is still valid.
