Has anyone ever requested NHRA consider allowing cars in Stock and Super Stock, that were original stick only combinations, be allowed to run a 3 speed automatic? Considering the non vin number cars can run any trans they want and the old PG cars now run 3 speeds, why not allow the older stick only combinations to run an automatic. I think this would add to the interest and potentially the car counts. Thoughts?
BTW. When does NHRA give their answers to the rule changes that have been requested for this year? Thanks. |

IHRA allows stick only cars to run an auto; and auto only cars to run a stick.
Hmm...a DZ302 Camaro with a metric 200 for D/SA or Hurst AMX with a ProTrans for SS/CA...

Spent 1 year going back and forth with the powers to be about running a 1985 Mustang with a carbed 5.0L and an automatic. Ford only made the carbs as sticks and the EFI as autos. Needless to say, I lost that request. |
