Reason for not being able to hook up the tach wire MEGA 450

Hello All
I was just wondering what is the actul reason behind not being able to hook up the Green tach wire on a Mega 400 or 450?
Other then NHRA/IHRA says "NO"
What does it do I don't know about?

In order to shift on RPM not on time it needs to be hooked up, or you need a second means to activate the shifter.

Seems a waste of money to have to buy a second box to activate the shifter.
"O I forgot Drag Racing is not suposed to be Cheap"

Is there something this box can do, I don't know about?

Cal, I've been told that the tach wire was used with the delay box to work with some type counter and/or track locator in the past. Don't know this to be fact just what I have been told.

All kidding aside. There has been a lot of speculation about whether or not the box "guts" can be replaced or reprogrammed to aide in cheating. Digital Delay debunked this notion on their website a number of years ago but NHRA enforced this rule anyway. Now we have to live with it and buy addition boxes to record RPM.

TD- I have my Tach wire hooked up all the time! I just can't read the counter @ 160 plus without my Glasses !

I'm not smart enough to hook anything up like that.

I have heard of a couple boxes that do everything for you but let go of the button.
I guess I'm just not smart enough to know which one to buy. Or where to get one for that matter. But wouldn't use it even if I did know where to get one at.

Just don't understand how something so simple can be so complicated!!!
