Ryan

Kwas is "working on it" We usually have to wait until the NHRA and IHRA schedules are out to avoid having a conflict with them. Then we need to talk to all five race tracks and see were they can fit us in to their schedules as well.
I know that the MASCA has posted their schedule but ,they only go to two tracks and have eight races. Where as we (the MWSCS) go to five different tracks for 14-16 races. So it takes us a little longer.

You can bet that I will post the 2012 MWSCS schedule as soon as it's finalized!

Thanks for asking!

I see Route66 has us listed on their schedule for a couple of races. What are the 5 tracks that are you guys looking at for next year? Personally, I would like to see it at our 4 core tracks:Byron,Cordova, Route 66 and the Grove. It seems when the MWSC travels to tracks other than those four, they pick up racers for that particular race, but those new racers never seem to go to any of the other MWSC races to help support the series.

Well were once again going to Indy and while we do not get a lot of racers by traveling beyond our four core race tracks you mentioned if we don't try to let other people experience racing with us ,we will stop growing and our numbers will shrink and eventually there won't be enough of us to make it worth while.(Every year we lose one or two racers )
Then you'll be back to towing 4-8 hours to go to the NHRA/IHRA races which in the case of the NHRA represent 3-4 days and only one race.( Not to mention the poor payout)
We have in the past gone to Earlville, Havanna, US 41, and Martin all of which we have not gone back to for various reasons.
Ryan is an example of someone we may picked up on because we went to Earville.
If you have some suggestions as to other ways to attract racers to give us a try I'm definitely interested.

Bill, for what it's worth I think you have a point. I didn't race with you last year, but I just didn't get out much last year. The year before that I raced with you at Cordova and Earlville (both good tracks for the most part). If you want to grow at all or at least gain new members to make up for those that "retire" you will have to expand your area a bit. I would like to plan to attend some races with you guys this year if I can make it work. I would like to say I will be able to race a bit more than I did last year and I enjoy racing with your group. Depending on the dates, I would like to go to Cordova, route 66 and possibly Indy. I would prefer to only go to the 2 day races as it obviously makes more sense to hit 2 races with one tow if possible. I don't think you will see me at Byron (Ron drives me nuts) and I haven't been to the grove since NHRA stopped racing there years ago. From what I remember it was rarely safe enough to run 1/4mile there and we often had to switch to 1/8th mile.

Just my .02

We all, as you stated "would prefer to only go to the 2 day races as it obviously makes more sense to hit 2 races with one tow if possible."
That's why it's so fustrating when some tracks only want to give us one day races (last year we when to one on Saturday and another on Sunday)
We each of us pay the race track for the use of their facilities at the gate and ask for nothing but a little track time and it difficult in some cases to understand why they don't want to take our money?.
Were all about affordable fun racing with a fair payout and getting two chances to race in a weekend just make sense to us too.

For what it's worth, we in the Pacific Northwest Super Comp Association (pnsca) are having the same problem. We have a couple of tracks that insist they don't have time for us, and we're looking at scheduling doubleheaders on Friday night/Saturday. It's frustrating.

One of the issues we're seeing is that a couple of tracks that have road/circle courses give those racers preference. They run in the rain, they don't require the same track prep, and I guess they make more money running them. It's a real issue for us finding weekends to run.

What we have been trying to do is illustrate the number of dollars we bring in and the minimal amount of track time we use. However one of the tracks is focused on scheduling Friday night and Saturday races which works well for the local racers but since most of our racers have to tow more than one hundred miles to get there and most of our guys are working stiffs Friday nights are not too popular. The track maintains that their car counts when they open on Sunday are significantly down from Friday night or Saturday.

The other track is primarily focused on supporting the NASCAR track across the street and it’s rumored that except for their national event weekend they wouldn’t even be open and that without intervention of the NHRA that they wouldn’t even have bracket program.
Perhaps the revenues generated from normal weekly operations are considered insignificant when compared to the revenues generated by the NASCAR track. While I’m not sure this is true, it appears to be so.
Fortunately we don’t have to share with the road or circle track racers but it’s understandable that if the track management makes more money that way, it is their focus.
We have a long (more than 25 years) and positive history with three of the tracks within 100 miles of Chicago and we continue to seek out other tracks that can see the positive finical aspects of doing business with us.

Bill, I am not sure exactly which track is the first one you are talking about, but I know exactly which one the second track is. Which tracks didn't want to do 2 day races last year? Cordova (which makes no sense to me), RT 66 and Indy? Cordova is close enough for me that I would consider going to a one day race there, however if it were a two day race I don't think there would be a question in my mind about going. RT is also very close to me and I would probably come up for a one day race. I won't drive all the way to Indy for one day though.

I feel your pain, years ago when I helped with the North Central Super Gas Association we had some difficulties dealing with tracks. I don't know the particulars of what they make on a normal bracket weekend, but it must not be good if they are so reluctant to be open. I think that if some of these tracks did some marketing they might actually get a few spectators. (i.e. Norwalk) It seems like they just think they will open the gates and people will come running.
