does anyone remember the stephen pontiac 69' firebird? it was a raIV 4speed in c/s. i think the driver/tuner was bill ekstrom. they sold the car and ran a pro stock 70' firebird with raV power.

bill eckstrom showed up at lebanon valley late in 69' and cleaned house in stock. he was one of the best stick drivers i've ever seen. the car showed up in 70' with a new owner and called yellow bird. is bill still around and what about the pro stock bird and all the super rare raV parts?

He was an awsome driver he did especially well with the first 2 cars 68 RAII 4spd steel bumper GTO 69 RAIV 4spd firebird 11.93 et in 1969 c/ stock Then the 70 thru 73 Firebird RAV car which was never really Super competative though It did race at Indy! I have the pics from it at indy It had to compete with big dollar ( for the day) race teams. It did run 10.35. But hemi cudas were in the 9s by then It was about to get an aluminum Block when Pontiac pulled the plug Check out rodder and super stock Jan 1973 for an article Written at Etown with an interview with Bill in the staging lanes if I remember correctly Last edited by Cstockbird; 03-01-2012 at 10:23 PM. |
