If the street version on unleaded gas, mufflers and air filter has 580HP, how much will the NHRA Stock Eliminator version have?
MSN Autos says "The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will not be anywhere near as rare as its 1969 namesake when it arrives during the first quarter of next year, but the most powerful production Camaro to date should deliver performance more than worthy of its model designation. Camaro engineers on Thursday offered media members a preview of the upcoming Ford Mustang Shelby GT500-fighter, and the tale of the tape is impressive, especially in terms of grunt: The 6.2-liter, supercharged LSA V8 will make 580 hp at 6,000 rpm, and 556 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm, besting Chevrolet's original targets for the engine's output and bettering its efficiency in Cadillac's CTS-V by 24 hp and 5 lb-ft." http://editorial.autos.msn.com/blogs...0875>1=22026 Last edited by Bobby DiDomenico; 09-13-2011 at 11:42 AM. |

Sounds like they have the engine now if they could concentrate on the over all looks of the thing and get rid of the cadillac runt suv parts.

Seeing that it’s a REAL production car with production VIN numbers and they are producing enough vehicles to make the production quota that was supposedly set by NHRA it will more than likely be rated at 600+. That way NHRA will not have to worry about interfering it with the Non -Production cars and will end up being a combo that no one will want to run.

And how much weight will that 600 HP have to drag around? At least a "real" ZL-1
didn't need a heavyweight trailer to move it around.
