With all the talk of class eliminations and the US Nationals on here and how it used to be, it got me thinking. Earlier this year, I went to the Cajun Sportsnationals in Belle Rose and they had a CIC race with the freedom to run the cars out without fear of combination hits due to the current faulty factoring system.
I was wondering if there were any promoters out there or races that have thought about having something like a US Sportsnationals but this race would be for sportsman racers only. Then in addition to a CIC race being run, you guys could make a national announcement that Class would be run without NHRA factoring. You could still tech cars or whatever and hold your own record book outside of NHRA and the race would be treated like a side race. I would imagine if you could get the race to some of the middle regions of the United States and get some sponsors, that racers all over would be trying to get to this event. Anyway, I have no idea if this is being done but it would be nice to have a big race such different class cars from everywhere could come in and race for a class trophy. It wouldn't be a wally, but at least there wouldn't be as many 1000ft races.
