I think they use these to read time slips, look for any dropped snacks and to find the cup holder.

stops any distraction of opponents tree coming down and makes using a blinder much easier at night.

Paul,
Are they flooding the inside of the car with the amber lights? My son really struggles with the night racing as he also bottom bulbs. If this is so,it makes sense. Are there any photos of this? Jeff Ross |

They've been using them for a long time to lessen the glare from the lights.Started with the incandescent bulbs.I think the LEDs have lessened the problem. That's why some tracks point a flood light at the tree at night.
Either that or it looks cool, like putting the flourescent lights under the outer edges of the car.

If you try to use a blinder at night, the glare from the second bulb shines around the blinder. People have been putting a small amber "194" bulb (old side marker bulb) behind their blinder so that it has the glare all the time.
