Quote from DRC this morning in regards to SS eliminations:
"8:09 a.m. The drivers are lollygagging, everybody wants to run last...they've known for two days they were scheduled to run at 8 a.m. today." In my opinion, if the officials would close the back of the staging lanes down after a prescribed time period, they wouldn't have these problems!! Off my soapbox and back to tax returns...5 more days!

I think you two have it all wrong !!
They're IN the lanes, probably already paired and just don't want to go up first, a completely different problem. Who are these REPORTERS trying to be Police !?????

Randomly pick the first three pairs (like they have done at some races)
And Close the back of the lanes after the first pair leaves the starting line. And The first time they run out of cars in the "water box" - the round is over. Do it once and it will fix itself.

Agree...close the lanes on 1st pair in the water box. Period. No if's ands or but's.
We all know why they do it. It's race time!

A couple of questions about this....
1) When we posted the first three pair, there would be one or two of these first six cars who waited and showed up last. Therefore holding up the entire session. What time limit should be given? )How do you answer the racer who always shows up early in a session and wants to run early...when his opponent for the round waits 'til the very end. Why is is "OK" for the late racer to control the pairing? One wants to run early, one wants to run late...but the "late" arriver is in control. The early racer wants to know why we allow it? I don't know what the proper answer is for either question. The usual answer is to just shrug the shoulders, and say there's nothing I can do about it. I'm interested in your answers as racers are split about 50-50 on this. Just consider me an interested spectator with a with a pretty good cheap seat to watch the races from. |

The problem should be solved by NHRA by Now.
They call the racers to the lanes but the touring pros and others , (Just about everyone knows who they are) want to control when they come to the lanes cause they are busy waiting for info to help them decided or what ever they do ??? . I really don't care when they show up cause if NHRA calls me to the lanes and after a reasonable amount of waiting I am going to the Line . it is not my fault that they are not there , Now after saying this I wonder what would happen to the person Sandbagging ???? Interesting ?? would NHRA disqualify them ??? hey NHRA said come to the lanes so I am going to do what NHRA says not want a sandbagger is doing ??

I hear from NHRA staging guys one name, I keep telling them DQ this person and maybe, just maybe it would be a wake up call.
Lucky for me all the buckeye SS/Stk races and the Jeg's Super series races I've done I have never had this problem, first time i do, watch out. |
