Default Early 80's Video Clip - Johnny Labbous

This video clip was taken at my home track, Brainerd Optimist Drag Strip in the very early eighties. This Omni 024 was built for Johnny Labbous by Herb McCandless. Johnny built his own engines. This was when they still used a five amber tree and allowed deep staging. Notice that there is no trans-brake either. Johnny was NHRA Div. 2 S/G champion a couple of times. He was runner-up at the Gators in 1983 and won the Spring Nationals in 1985. I traveled with him to several races in the seventies and early eighties. He was a relentless competitor and did more than his share of winning.

Wayne.
