Not many remember we ran this car, heres a link to some pictures.
Sonny Stincel now owns the car, we ran a 318 , he has a 360 in ss/ja. Rick Fuller bought the car from the guys I sold it to & won a NHRA National with it http://public.fotki.com/fwd3300/our-1979-vloare-sup/ |

FYI, the car Sonny is running in SS/JA is a B&B race car that was built from the ground up.
I asked last week and was told this by someone that talked to Sonny while i was sitting there. UPDATE I could of been told wrong then, but i was told they found another body and if you look under it chassis wise its no where close to what yours was chassis wise, this is an "mini pro stock" type chassis Oh well no biggie Last edited by Nitro Joe Jackson; 10-15-2009 at 08:36 PM. |

Well they are wrong !
Sonny called me after he bought it from Jack McCormick. I told him the story on the car. |

I didn't know the history behind it, but I knew Nick Dennis, out of Jacksonville, FL when he had the car. I believe he sold it about 5-7 years ago and got out of racing for personal reasons.

I actually owned that car for a few weeks. I sold it to Nick Dennis in February of 94. I mean if its the same car, but I did sell Nick his car.

Tom,
I was checking out your pictures and couldn't help but notice Norwalk , Columbus ect back in the day. The norwalk photo doesn't even look like the same track as today. Cool pics. And by the way , my brother had a Dodge Aspen bracket car that he painted exactly like yours back then. Great car. Jeff Ross |

Tom, were the spoilers and 1/4 window louvers part of the Road Runner package for 79, or a seperate option? I used to have an older Volare Road Runner, either a 76 or 77, and it was orange with just black side stripes, no louvers or front spoiler. Mine was a 318 with a 4 speed (actually 3 speed with O/D 4th). It even had a "Beep Beep" horn, although I don`t know if that was original, or if somebody added it before I bought the car, in the mid 80`s. A local racer has a 80 Road Runner, but his car has the square headlights.

Tom: I remember looking over your car at Indy. Maybe at Union Grove, Wi. also? It was well done, great looking and ran well.
Thanks for sharing these pics with us. -Al |

The 1/4 window lovers & spoiler was a add on , but I've forgot what it was called.
Shadowoods built the car in the spring of 79. In 1981 we Had Dave Koffel build a motor. Alen thanks for the kind words.......I thought it looked great, but I just couldn't beat those Chevy wagons from Div.1 Last edited by TOM KASCH; 10-16-2009 at 01:53 PM. |
