I was told today that there is a "passport I.D. card that is available from US customs that enables US and Canadian citizens to travel back and forth into both countries. The fee is only $25 and the wait is way less than the normal 3-4 week wait for a regular $100+ passport.....Anyone have any info on this? I was also told that a Mass. resident can go into Boston and come home w/a passport card the same day.....Again, anyone? I really want to go up to Napierville for next weekend's racing, but also want to be able to get across the border to come back home, ha! Much thanks.

Yes! Passport card is available---fee for first -time applicants is $45...not $25....& you need a birth certificate to apply...You can do Canada, Mexico, the Carribean, and Bermuda w/"the card", so I'm told.---but no trans-Atlantic flights---full passport needed for those. Anyway, I'll be at my local post office applying for "the card" on Monday morning....hopefully I can get it by next Thursday....we'll see. Stay tuned.
