Did anyone ever drag race a 1964 Dodge 880 custom? Pictures?

I know its a different car but in 1962 Hot Rod magazine raced a 62 Chrysler Newport with a 413. I'm not sure but I think it ran ss/sa at 62 Winternationals and took runner up in class to a Pontiac. Big Chrysler and Dodge 880 shared same body except for front end sheet metal.

The Newport was the "entry-level, el-cheapo model and shared its wheelbase with the 300.

Well I just remembered one many years ago fondly. I did notice that NHRA lists the 361,383, and 413. All of the specs I have found do not list the 413 being available. Was this an early "paper" car?
I always thought the aerodynamics from the back window looked great, but there would be a lot of front end to overcome. This is just for thoughts. |
