MASGA Gears up for Mid-Summer Showdown @ Atco
Atco, NJ – The Mid-Atlantic Super Gas Association will swing back into action on the weekend of June 6th & 7th at New Jersey’s Atco Raceway. After a great outing at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa Delany Richardson will carry a small point’s lead into race #3 of the season for the MASGA crew. He is followed closely by 2nd place Hank Smith and tied for 3rd is Don Knoblick and Paul Schonberger. Unfortunately Race #2 was rained out and will not be made up unless needed to.
On Saturday gates will open at noon (9am if you have a Junior Dragster) and you will get 2 qualifying shots before eliminations start. The fields are set on a NHRA Sportsman ladder and run all in 1 day. The higher qualified car will get lane choice for the 1st round only. Qualifying and Elimination Ladders are posted at Lucky’s trailer about 15-20 minutes after our 2nd qualifying shot and we try to pair up before heading to the lanes to save on time. The entry fee into the track per day is $ 30.00 plus any crew members you may have. The MASGA fee is $70.00 that is paid to Leanne or Lucky Luciano. The payout is based on a 32 car all run field and the winner’s purse is $1,000.00 dollars based on that car count. One thing that makes MASGA a little different then NHRA event is that we run on the true .400 tree so you may have to add some delay to your boxes but, everything else is the same.
On Saturday night we have a huge free BBQ that is put on by MASGA and hosted by Uncle Buck and George Donhauser. The BBQ is free to all racers, family and crew so bring your chairs and appetite for a night full of fun and bench racing. On Sunday gates open at 9am and we repeat Saturday’s action with 2 qualifying shots and 1st round following until we get a winner. As always you do not have to be a member of MASGA to run our association and it is open to anyone with a NHRA certified 9.90 racecar. If by any chance you win or runner-up during one of our races dues will be taken out of your winnings and you will become a member. So if you’re a season veteran looking for something to do on an off-weekend or someone new to Super Gas, MASGA is great places to get your feet wet and learn. Remember there is no Super Gas at Englishtown this year and the following weekend is the Atco Divisional so you can get a leg up and get some test run’s in while having some fun. Any questions visit
