Question Oil Filters

Is It better to use an oil filter with or without an anti-drain back valve? What exactly does this valve do and how does it work?Specs on both filters were the same except, one had the valve and the other did not.Wix #51060R/51061R

Generally speaking, an anti-drainback filter would only be necessary when the filter is mounted horizontally or where the oil could exit the filter when the engine isn't running. Applications like Chevy's and other vertical mounts shouldn't require the valve in the filter.
