Heard through the grape vine.......NHRA requires Liability Insurance on all pit Viehicles......Was told this by an NHRA Official.....If they request proof of insurance you must be able to produce an Insurance card.....Supposevedly they were busting chops in Brainerd.......
As if NHRA needs something else to PISS off the racer with......The car counts are down.....people are hurting in this economy, It is hard for us to afford to race this type of racing and now we have to carry insurance on our dam pit viehicles.......isnt that what we pau $40/national event for....."INSURANCE"....NHRA is going to eventually slice their own throats with these STUPID *** rules here you go http://www.nhra.com/content/news.asp...31211&zoneid=8 |

The extra $40 for insurance on a National Event entry is just more money for NHRA under the table.
Just try to collect on it after an accident. Your personal insurance is the first coverage you have and the $40 NHRA insurance is secondary. Then when you ask for their coverage you get and I quote from the carrier representative "We will defend ourselves to the limit of the law." In other words go get you a lawyer and we will see what happens in court in about 10 years. Unless you have deeper pockets than I do you just let it go and remember it to tell everyone you know when it comes up. What a bunch of money grubbers. My 2 Cents from having been there!!!! |

We insured our golf cart a few years ago because actually this rule has been in effect for a couple of years just no enforcement. 7$ a month i think it was. But now on my 1983 honda z50R, 50 cc, they wanted normal insurance just like it was a street bike because it was a motorcycle.

I left Brainerd this morning ( third rd runner-up), anyhow there were non stickered pit bikes and scooters all over the place.A Motorhome pulled in next to me at 3ft away on Saturday with 2 -4-wheelers -no decal on his windshield or on their scooters. I don't think they have the people to enforce the new rules.
On Insurance: It is your respsonsibilty to insure all your vehicles, if you don't have insurance on your pit bikes and golf carts- Don't Hit Me !

Maybe one of you knows the answer to this...if I am sitting in the stands and a fuel car blows a piece of shrapnel out and it hits me and I'm injured..who is the insured?...and whats the difference if someone is hurt by a pit bike/cart ?...it seems like you accept the risk by attending/paying the ticket price...

I don’t know if any of the Sportsman Counsel Members read the posts on this site, but if they do, can they get the answers to these questions:
1 – What does the $40 Insurance at a National Event cover? 2 - Why do I only need this insurance at National Events and not Divisionals? 3 – If the National Event Insurance is for Secondary Coverage, why do I HAVE to buy it? 4 – When I complete my Golf Cart Registration form each year, at the cost of $10, I noticed the line in the form that states “I” assume all liability. So why do I have to give you $10 for knowing that each year? John Maggiulli Sr. |

I know it sucks to spend more money , but think about this, Ben Siea's S/G Malibu was hit at Maple Grove by a golf cart. ....The damage was substantial, and he missed quite a bit of racing. ....Now he has to collect from the owner, whose teenager was driving. ......Question is do you want to be in the same position of paying damages out of your pocket? ...........I just got coverage on my cart today ,over the phone in 5 min. ....$65 a year from Foremost insurance. ......It's also available from Progressive and Gieco. ..........Don't believe that you are covered by your home owners policy,as my agent told me that it only applies while on your property. ......Tom
