Look in the Lucas oil section on Monday. Bruce Bachelder said that in 2009 they would monitor port volumes in cylinder heads in Stock Eliminator, if your port volume is found to be larger than what is listed for Super Stock, you will be disqualified from that event. In 2010, there will be a published specification for Stock like there is for Super Stock.

Alan,

Please excuse my ignorance, but why would the port volume numbers for Stock be any different than the numbers used for Super Stock engines?

And, if they're the same, why would they need TWO lists?

Just asking.... 'cause I thought the S/S numbers WERE originally Stocker head numbers. Has that changed?

Thanks for any information!

Bill

Its like closing the barn door after all of the cows have left the farm.

Bill,
I'm just telling you what the man told me. I have no idea at all what they are up to. And I certainly do not profess to understand NHRA.

To make sure I understand this correctly; for now we are to use the SS volume numbers? Then next year a new list will be out that could have smaller volumes for the ports? So, if I build them to 2009 standards they may be obsolete in 2010?

Why do we need to "use" any list? I thought stocker heads were to be untouched, factory fresh. I know, I know, how ignorant can I be, everyone acid ports and otherwise screws with their stocker heads. But the rules are what the rules are. If port volumes are published but the rule remains no porting, all it does is ligitimize disguised porting. Isn't there any honesty remaining in this world?
