A little bit of history on the AHFS: This was actually a racer request, or at least that of the vocal minority. At one time, you never knew when and if you would get a hp adjustment. There was a “secret committee” who made the determination. Then on this, or the forum out of MN, the racers started discussing a system of calculating hp adjustments. I won’t say that Jeff Teuton was the leader, but he was more the “administrator” gathering the information, determining what was the majority opinion (of those who commented), and presenting it to NHRA. So, we got what we asked for. It’s been adjusted over the years, but basically it was a racer request.
Also, “hiding all that you got” is nothing new. If you look at the mph of Class Winners for results from the ‘70’s, you’ll see that many winners had extremely low mph for the ETs that they ran.
So, I don’t know the answer to the sandbagging problem, but it does seem more prevalent now than ever.

I would fair guess the news will come Friday before the NHRA office closes for the year. I'm sure someone(s) worked hard or requested to get Hp off. I'll be honest I sent a letter to St. Nick..

Remember there is no hp decrease on combo once it had earned HP any time in its life
Also hp was given on the average of 85under and they averaged the % over 85under

Now hp is given to a combo on a % of the combos fastest run of the year
It’s gonna be interesting what combo gets The Hammer on HP
It could will be ugly
Question is will the new system even the playing field or ruin peoples combos
We will see soon

Well ya know Ponko, If NHRA would stop giving enhancements to certain "people's combos" then maybe they wouldn't get ruined.

I was eyeballing a U/SA combo. I probably won't get help there. I was told I might shoot my eye out.
