If you round down the weight its 5-10lbs, if you round down the hp 5 hp that could be 50lbs, quite the difference

Mine was rounded down 7 lbs on my window sticker at a divisional this year. When I asked the tech inspector about it (not that it mattered) he said that's they way he/they do it.

Very fine line between cheating and pushing the enveloppe. Ported Acid heads are just one of the ambiguous definition of the rule. Interpretation of any laws can be taken many ways. Smokey Yunick was quoted many times saying" that if you aren't cheating you'aren't trying". How about someone who make's a genuine mistake or a manufacturer wrong number on a piston. Unless it's nitrous or flagrant use of time delay and axle counter let the tech department take care of it(most are quite efficient to find or point out where you aired.lolCR

I think Casey is saying we round down/up weight when it it is an odd number. For example my weight is 3367 in H/SA (11.5 X 278 plus 170) and it is rounded to 3365 as per NHRA.

If I can round my HP to 275 from 278 I have been giving away some weight, lol

IMHO, if you would blatanty "cheat" then you are nothing more than a liar and a thief. Period.
BUT I am suprised at how many times I have seen the Rule Book "misinterpreted" and I do believe that it is vaguely written intentionally for just that reason.
Also, refer back to Eddy's previous post.

Not one stock eliminator crank has been inspected....really?

All I know is my fathers B/SA is so rule compliant and truly stock and we used to be the fastest back in 1993-1994 ....I know cutting down the crank and, offset piston pins along with lightening the crank as well with making our stock intake manifold act like a single plane with micro holes where tech can't see and a lot more stuff has our combo to be....well...very fast...not our stuff but everyone else's...I'm sure if I was in teardown and lead the tech to more of these such gray areas we could all play on the same playing field, otherwise its a joke.....We are the most legal car out there and being stomped on......its not fun....not fun at all.

Could someone familiar in jibberish translate this post back into English?
