Seen the same thing at Sonoma last year. They towed to the top of the hill unhooked and coasted down the hill. I didn?t have my phone with me.

Most competitive teams now use a chiller and ice
directly behind the staging lanes on a Heads Up
race before entering the staging lanes.

No, DQ
The official if he caught, you would tell you to drive it back to your pit and drive it back
That?s the rule
Ask your father

I get what you are saying James ,but i just don't see in the rule book if you get caught towing to the lanes you have to drive back to the pits and drive back up it says towing to the lanes is prohibited which to me means not legal. So not sure how they would handle it, and I'm guessing its up to the official at the time of the infraction. And like Shane said I wish NHRA would follow its own rules no matter who you are a beginner or a pro shouldn't matter a rule is a rule and if broken you should pay the consequences end of story!

Like if I'm 10 pounds light at the scale can I go back to my trailer add weight and drive back and weigh? May as well if all you have to do when you get caught towing is go drive back and forth . If you get caught towing up you can drive back to the trailer thats fine but you should stay there! Maybe prohibited means something else ?? idk lol

FWIW I messaged the division director what the penalty is. I also asked about chillers and ice at the mouth of the lanes.my understanding that stuff can?t leave a pit spot, doesn?t have to be your pit spot if you had a friend closer?. I will update if he answers

Just about everyone uses a friend?s pit that is closer to help chill.
In Indy, where it should be policed to the highest level, people are still chilling in the lanes!

I would notify an official. Then whatever happens?happens.

Several years ago at Topeka a stocker was being towed to the lanes by a golf cart, Tech Guy, the late Wayne Lewis yelled tow that back to your pits & drive up here like everyone else
