Allen Sherman has it right....Emmons got screwed. I have watched this video about 50 times and I don't see anything that couldn't be construed as good bracket driving. No smoke from the fronts (or rears) No Tim (Joey Chitwood) Fletcher display of skills, no reason at all to DQ. Both driver's were hard on the brakes....it's the way they race.
I have known Kyle Rizzoli since he was riding his big wheel around the pits and eating co co puffs for most meals.He is a good racer and friend. I was happy for him and the win when I first viewed the results but after hearing about the DQ and viewing the video from the finish line.....No doubt in my mind who actually won. My opinion of course. TT

If it is a rule to not smoke tires at finish line maybe NHRA should put it in rule book so there people know what we can do and not do. Then everyone can be clear and Jerry would have been fine.

Rulings related to this topic for a very, very long time have been very subjective. I have seen people lock them up next to me and move on with just a slap on the wrist, people get tossed for doing it and the other person reinstated, and everything in between. For once, NHRA needs to get rid of the ambiguity, put it in writing in the rulebook, and let us racers know what is what instead of making their decisions off the cuff every round or every race based on how they feel at that moment in time.

Come on guys, give me a brake with all this nonsense. Of coarse we kneed to think safety, butt at what point dew we draw the line. Don't mean two sound course, NHRA should bee concerned with this situation, they mite set a precedent if they included it inn the rules. Eye believe that if they did, someone wood invent a smokeless tire.

New Rule Rule; their will bee know smoking at the Finnish line.

I know there's a number of people on here that have calling for someone to get DQed over excessive braking but I doubt anyone thinks this is legit. Obviously some kind of payback involved. Don't think the word "smoke" has ever been in the rule book with regards to excessive braking. Always been a "starter's discretion" kind of call as far as I know. What I never see mentioned in the many discussions I've read about guys lighting up their tires at the finish line is the fact that it's a fail on the driver's part regardless of the safety aspect. You're heavy on the brakes to scrub speed. If your tires are lit up you're not doing that! No different than spinning on the starting line. What Jerry did there was pretty much text book on doing it well. Nice job!!
