When the factory began building new COPOs, DPs, and CJs did anyone say then that there were too many classes and too many cars already? I can't remember that response then.

Could be the mfgrs of those cars put up big money to sponsor big races.
If you wanted to put the money up for that, you might pull it off.

Thinking of an entry level is good, but.... Every week end there is a drive in track in your neighborhood with Bracket racing. That's what you are proposing and another Bracket race at Points meets is not needed. Think of ONE car to feature and let everyone enter that class heads up and you might have something. I would pay money to sponsor that race. I already Have...using one class.

How about the total collapse of companies choosing to stop paying for class win and records.Companies need new trends,be part of the solution not the problem. Running Legend cars or snowmobiles is a better show than new cars running nearly heads up? A new Mustang with a 5.0 can run at will with good tires 11.90 Imagine ten of these cars running side by side one could be 11.91 the other 11.90 no one could detect the difference between the two cars. What are you afraid anyways, this would help the track with a little more cash coming their ways. I think we're not too far from seeing Outlaw racing and Twin Turbos being part of National meets soon anyways.Claude Ruel

Sorry, just don't see another new class, especially one that NHRA actually has to police as close as Stock Eliminator and Super Stock, which they'd actually like to get rid of. There's no room, no time, no money, and no personnel. We have already had quotas at a lot of events. Who do you propose gets locked out to make room for the new classes?

No one is "afraid" of anything.

What's next? Sealed crate engines?

You do point out one issue, companies stopping paying for many things.
Too many Nationals to pay too many class winners and the old days guys weren't using the products just getting the money. We could talk about not enough true class racing except INDY or Class nationals to warrant paying

When introduced those cars all went into existing classes.

The big 3 would love that !

Ford already has a dedicated sealed factory crate class right now in the NMRA--Coyote Stock.

Not sure, but I thought the NMCA was working on a GM LS crate engine class as well. Not sure if it was finalized or not.

Alan, no need to police anything since it's an all run category with no one getting pushed out. All you really need is a good set of drag radials. I've sat through enough races from the bleachers to tell you that there is enough time.Since I believe in this I am ready to put some money where my mouth is for Division 1 races. Claude Ruel
