I can't wait to see all the Stock and Super Stock class runs, and I'm also very excited for the Factory Showdown! I will be arriving in Indy Wednesday night and attending the race on Thurs, Fri and Sat. only 2 weeks left!

Ron, The best answer I could give you is that it's never been done before in Super Stock or Stock. 128-cars is the max anywhere. I think it would also be a nightmare for the guys in the lanes trying to pair the cars after qualifying so the only way it would work would be to make it random pair in the first round like Super Comp and Super Gas. I'm not sure many class racers would want to see that. After all, isn't it a source of pride to have one of the quickest cars in the field? There haven't been anywhere near this many Super Stock and Stock cars at Indy since 2004 (when the quotas were also at 200) so every qualifying round is going to be meaningful. |

Yes, an all-run field would severely cheapen Indy (more so than it already has been).
The only races with an all-run field of eight rounds has been the Dutch Classic in the past (150 Stockers would show) or the US Class Nationals (187 cars on the ladder).

Kevin, I hadn't thought about trying to get all the cars paired up for the first round especially. Definitely would NOT want random pairings. I am sure there would be some cars "picked on". It was just a thought, but I can see the mess that might happen. To go from 128 cars to 200 could create a nightmare in staging. Thanks Kevin.
Another good point that I let slip my mind in my post. As I have stated in another thread Indy is the last performance orientated race - Let the fast cars play.

Other than scales and fuel check, how close are the S/SS cars monitored during the qualifying runs? With the bigger quota allowed and the bump spot being so fast it looks like someone could possibly slip something by for one run.
