I'm saying it will be close to 2.00 for quick 32 @ Michael Beard's Northern Class natl's based on the following, the NHRA indexs will be raised to .30 to match IHRA so as example Gary Summers can run 1.60? under with .30 change to index he will be 1.900 under, the cic will trigger @ 1.25 under, there are other cars out there that will be way under also.
This is independent race no AHFS in effect.
When you can run more than 1.00 under why would you want to turn loose and give away what you have in reserve? If you have a 1.300 under car you just turned it into probaly a .75-.80 under car. I have friend that was .990 under when #1 w/same combo was 1.628 under made his car into .250-.350 combo and @ Bristol maybe not even make index.
Sure I would like to see everyone run all out all the time, but I don't see any reason for them to shoot their self in the foot.

I agree with Mike on the Class nationals next year.

Will be interesting to see how far under some cars will run.

I know why folks lift and protect their indexes and HP. I've seen it for 30 years. I just personally don't agree with it and think it should always be run all the way out. This is just my own opinion. If I wanted to see a car run slower than it actually could I'd be a fan of Super Comp, Super Gas or Super Street. If I was a zillionare I'd buy a new COPO, Cobra Jet, and Drag Pak car, bury the indexes, and then give them away to charity. Work on your stuff, make it fast ... if they add HP work harder to get it back or change classes. I don't think lifting should be part of racing unless it's at the stripe to not break out.

Tar Heel,
I don't think you are taking my comments the wrong way,I'm in friendly discussion tone, just want to be sure though.
Most combo's are too hard of work and too much money to get to the point where they run fast enough to get w/HP to just turn around and give it right back just because you can run that fast, but that's my opinion, and I see your view,if you got it use it,but you have to be careful about giving up what you can't replace.
Then on the other hand you have combo's that can be hit several times and still have extra left.

Thanks for the post Mike; I didn't take your comments the wrong way. You're exactly correct in what you say and understand how the Stock "game" works. I agree with all you said about how racers work hard and don't want to give it back ... I just don't think it's right that some combos, especially these new factory race cars, are lifting at the 1000' mark and still going way under.

Not all the Factory car's have that kind power to spare!!! There are more Factory cars that go all out and cant go -1.00 then you think...

I personalty know of four+ factory cars in Division 5 that run all out and are .30 to .70 under there index . NO BS!

There are for sure factory cars that have a unreal amount left in them, but they didn't come from the factory that way. Barton, Patterson, Cagnazz,Taska, Ect. are a totally different monsters compared to the way they were delivered. IMO... I have found if you want to play with the big boys new or old combo, its all about money (On top of a good driver.)!

Not the fastest but I just got Bud Lefevres Malibu show up in the pictures on top. The Malibu, looks like a 78 or 79 ran G/PS. He was a member here who posted regularly till he had gotten sick and passed away some years ago. Just thought i'd mention him in memory. I think he built models too. Nice guy on classracer he was.

Yes briefly communicated with him.
Bob held the G/PS record for good long time.
Yes a very accomplished Model Car maker.

Guys like this need to be written about.
They are part of the unsung racers that need to be mentioned.

Not to mention many retired that are still contributing to our passion.
