Not to highjack the thread, but did you see that Mr. Warren had a .000 light in the first round?

I spoke with Don Garlits in the staging lanes and was surprised at what he said.

I welcomed him to Stock Eliminator and he responded that racing stock was more fun than top fuel. He was sincere in his responses and looked you straight in the eye.
He said that during an interview just recently that he stated that the sportsman ranks was the true backbone of the sport and should be recognized heavily, whether they report it or not is another thing. He also said that top fuel isn't fun anymore as they have taken away alot of the driver with the technology.

He really likes stock and he's going to do OK

There's only a handfull of these pioneers left.He can do what he pleases. Prolly smart enough for everyone to volunteer their sorted out packages, combo's and then he'll blow the A/SA record to oblivion and retire the car to his museum. He can think faster than most can talk.

Thumbs up Re: Is Big Daddy Serious?

Now Jim Bailey 's got a new "old" friend. Bet they could talk for a while if at the same place racing stock. I think it's cool.

Smile Re: Is Big Daddy Serious?

In November 2008 I was the guest announcer at Palm Beach International Raceway for their inauguaral Nostalgia event. Big Daddy Don Garlits was the grand marshall for this race and I got to present him a plaque out on the starting line in front of a big crowd. I've been announcing and racing for 48 years. This was a THRILL of a lifetime. I got to talk to him for about ten minutes earlier in the day. What great guy, sharp as ever and makes you comfortable talking to him. NHRA didn't get it wrong when the ranked him as the NUMBER ONE racer of all time. He's is that and more. His car got faster every run at the Gators. I'll bet he will be more competitive if he gets some seat time and races a few more events.

I have to agree, does anyone know what times he ran ? Ive been tied up living under a rock the last couple days.

Ma Mopar should have put the most sick package together for him, and "spread the word" to other DP teams.

But understand there have Now been 3, yes 3 regime changes at Mopar since the DP Inception. Its one of those freight trains that had enough momentum to our delight continue with a life of its own.

BUT Youre right Ma Mopar should have put a killer package together for him, lock stock and barrel.
