I wonder what the direction of rotation of that motor is? A lot of marine engines rotate the opposite of automotive applications.

I don't know about Fords but there can be some surprises when reversing the direction of a Mopar marine engine for automotive use.

It is a cool find!

Good Luck,
Bill

All say it is a great find!!! You always hear stories about a guy that found some rare piece in a farmers shed but could never validate the story. Now we found one!!!

We did this year...unfortunatley the barn fell down around it....

The absolute BEST part was the 9 foot Jesus Statue pointing the way...I swear....in the middle of the woods. There were 2 Ghia convertibles too....all competley gone...the A lasted the best.

My buddy Damon next to it....he paid $50 for it and it took us 3 days to "chop" our way through the woods....even got a title (well an original "bill of sale". I told him Ida taken the title and the spotlight and left the car....but he one mans junk.....I still got scars from this adventure....a deer hunter told us about the car. Hes "fixing" it as we speak.....hes gonna drive it JUST like it looks now......REAL RAT rod.....clearing the rust with satin so it dosent spread.....too late Damon...to late....

I would KILL to have that 427 so.....might be a Mopar guy now but I started as a Ford guy.........gotta keep from looking at the pic of that motor Im running out of napkins to wipe the drool off with.

Not all 427 are side oilers very few are. There are alot more (but still rare) 427 crossbolt with screw in freeze plugs out there. A friend found a 427 crossbolt bolck with screw in freeze plug (not a side oiler) this summer up here in Washington. I think they found some of the other parts for it as well it was torn down. It was for sale I dont know if he still has it.

Guess I need to go back for another look with my Ford buddy. I had a hard time figuring a 5 from a 6 for example. Needed a pocket knife. And I'll bring a flashlight to see if there is a side oiler. I thought all 427's with cross-bolt and screw-in freeze plugs were SO blocks.
The carb #'s check out for this, what's with the needle and seat? Different for marine than street?
