That "Magic Fairy" has been bolted not only in the CJ's, but also in a lot of other of other OEM cars including Japanese, European and US cars, including GM.

For starters, you have a OHC engine with very efficient cylinder heads. Then add what is called in the automotive industry, Displacement on Demand (DoD) Systems.

The DoD technology enables the Engine Control Module (ECM) uses the information related to the operational status of the engine to implement real-time running efficiency of the engine and effects changes in the operation of the engine through the control systems that manage its operation.

I do not know if the these cars are using Variable Cam Timing (VCT) and/or Variable Valve Timing (VVT) like the new Ford 5.0 engine does. I have seen the ECM graphical displays for VCT and VVT and I can tell you you can program the cam events for maximum engine efficiency throughout the whole run.

If the next generation of CJ's have the new 5.0 engine, as proposed, with ECM controlled VCT and VVT, watch out.
More reasons to put them in their own class OR add a ton of HP to the factor.

You are old enough to remember when they had to run the factory exhaust!

I beg to differ. A naturally aspirate mod motor from ford (aside from the new 5.0) is best suited for use as a boat anchor. They are bloated, oversize, overweight (as big as a hemi), and don't run worth a crap without forced induction. Why do you think the "crate" CJ's are windsor base?

You are correct about the VVT/VCT, although DOD will have no affect on a race motor. If they are allowed to run VVT/VCT it will open a bigger can of worms than EFI did when it first came on the scene.

Work? Who said work? Money buys the action with these new cars.

Just wait until real Stocker racers spend some serious time with them. Got to be another .020 -.030 in them. I guess you have been slaving away on the new CJ. lol Gracie rolled her CJ off the trailer and popped out some 9.60's. BTW, who helped Gracie and Bill during tear down at Indy? That had to be a serious project.

Gracie and Bill had a crew member helping and some of the other CJ racers pitched in to help them. I also saw one of the CJ racers helping a drag pak car in tear down. Some CJ racers were ready for tear down long before they actually had to go to the barn because they new they would eventually get an invitation.

I saw the car in tear down but wondered how in the world they would be able to do it on their own. Glad they got help.

What's a "real Stocker racer" Bruce? Someone who strokes a keyboard to improve the ol' combo? I don't know about you, but we've been actually trying to improve the CJ. Trying to make it a race car, not a collector car.
Better mousetrap......kinda like a two barrel!

Sean, why in the world would you need to work on making it faster, you have everybody covered by 3 to 5 tenths now. Do you need to cover them by 8 tenths or what, plus somebody asked a question earlier about what type and how many parts you test on your new car before you found the right combo that made it so fast. You don't have to tell everybody sizes or ratios just how many things did you have to do?
