The Maine tags are much cheaper than a registration in NY for myself and also no sales tax when registering on non motorized vehicle only...heard RV's are done the same way in Montana if you set it up correctly. Call the Maine dmv and they mail forms to you...and you do not have to be a resident of their state.

Look at tractor and trailer rigs on the road, 90% register their trailers in Maine because it is cheaper, been that way for 50 years.
