...2 comments were funny on that post.....
#1....35....Ha #2....About not being on an episode of COPs......the only reason you weren't on an episode of COPs, is because they didn't have the show when you were in your prime....(and the COPs were probably afraid of you....) |

Hey everyone, Scott Rider here...
It took some work for me to dig up my Username and Password, needless to say I haven't frequented the Drag Racing boards in awhile. I really want to sincerely send the message that this past weekend was magical for me. Having been away for years, this was an experience for me and my boys that we will never forget. The success on the race track was great, but the feeling of being at home with our friends again is hard to describe. I learned more this weekend than I have in my 27 years of racing. All those years have been about winning for me. I learned from with my battle with cancer that life is about people and now I understand that racing is about people too. It became so evident to me this weekend, I wish it wouldn't have ended. What a special group of people. To make it even more special my boys were able to take in the Drag Racing experience. My last Wally came when my boys (Garrett and Griffin) were just 4 and 1 years old. They've seen all the pictures and heard all the stories. Now they've experienced it too. Priceless! Griffin helped strap me in the car and literally held my hand in the lanes, and Garrett showed up first round at the water box to wave me in. It was so cool! I've spent the past 6 years strapping them in their race cars and giving them hand signals, I was so proud to see them involved at the digs! And how cool are Al and Nick Vogelsang that have been running the Nova for 8 years and call me to see if I'd like to run it one more time? That's the ultimate gesture for a racer. I could have never done that. And what an awesome job they've done with The Toons, unbelievable on the starting line. With the exception of one solo pass our worst reaction time was an .018 with a best of .008. That's quite the old race car. Lastly, I have to mention my thoughts for the McRobies, Steve Dillman, and Jeff Hurst. Though no one has the exact answer to your struggles the best I can offer is this: Take every day like another round of racing. One round at a time. Just like racing, some are easier than others. And don't ever forget, that the racing is ultimately about people and we are all there for you! God bless... Again, thank you all for making us feel at home again!
