Nothing but respect for Mr Williams, just one of those rules that has bit more than one racer. No performance advantage, but carbs are an area that they look at closely ,,,,when they look,,,, which is not to often

A secondary stop/ idle screw allows you to adjust idle while positioning primary blades properly over transition slot.

Question. How does a carb with four corners idling get approved for stock and super stock?

We were told, by NHRA, in writing, when we worked with Quick Fuel on the replacement carburetors, that the secondary idle mixture adjustment had to be set and then have plugs driven in. The carburetors came with the lead plugs. The secondary plates were drilled.

I did Ken. With all due respect, you mentioned that you made booster modifications to the 735. That is not a secondary throttle blade. I believe the booster modification falls under the section of the carburetor rule that states ‘fuel and air bleed passages may be resized’.

Just talked to my Carb builder, no holes in secondary plates, could cause issue with vacuum secondary opening.

I think you missed the most important part of the rule, and its the part you quoted. "Other modification prohibited". I don't agree that the booster falls under fuel passage and air bleeds rule. My booster was changed and it increased air flow dramatically because they were much smaller and it was approved. My point is, they let me change the booster and I get a gain in power, but two small holes with no power gain are suddenly grounds for being DQ'd. The rule makes no sense and should be changed.

Dan had this carb with the holes at a previous tear down and it was no issue carb passed.so now it does not pass tech..This is so not right .not a power gain .double standard this should be protested . . He and car were dialed in.this is so sad..probably wont see the Williams Bros. Stockers no more.... . SAD
