While I don't disagree, a lot of the enmity is due to how NHRA has treated so many over the years. Alan, Dave Ley and his wife, Gloria, Redman, and Wesley Roberson, among others, aren't just "personnel", those people are our family. Some of those people literally broke bread with us in our pits, shared water and other cold and hot beverages with us, and spoke with us regularly. Because they too love the sport, and they love us, as well. NHRA has simply discarded so many who gave their lives to this sport we love, to make things better for us, the racers.

Hey, if you like Alan Reinhart on the mic, tune in this weekend to NHRA.tv for the divisional event from Bowling Green. You'll be pleasantly surprised...

He is indeed fabulous. And of course, its just doesn't even feel like race morning until you hear Come on Eileen, Hot rod Lincoln, Cover of the rolling stone etc etc etc.
Just because he's an independent contractor doesn't mean he wont be back at national events. I tend to think we might hear him at Indy announcing S and SS! Might be wishful thinking, but I'm going with it !! Kp |

Alan just like a few other announcers are independent contractors so even though he might not work the NHRA NE anymore, he can still be hired by an individual track to come announce at the event, So like Joe Costello did at MG in May, Alan at Mission, LVD and BG, Brian Lohnes did the big TAD Shootout at Cecil this year so if a track wants to hire them and can come to an agreement on cost then it's great to have them aboard.

Having a good announcer is more important now than ever. With the online streaming most fans are listening and watching that way.
As a racer I only need to hear the call to the lanes for my class. My hearing is horrible and i am near deaf without my hearing aids. One of the announcers at D2 blasts an aa-oo-ga horn before he makes a call to the lanes for each class. That is perfect for me as I recognize the horn and listen closely for the class called. I have been to a few races where they used Whatsapp to communicate with the racers. That is a huge help to the hearing handicapped. I always sign up for the text to the lanes with NHRA but that system has never worked very well and is unreliable.
