It is the same situation when cars that were available with a Powerglide only, were allowed to run a 3-speed auto. In the case of this car, it is available with a GM transmission from the factory. Therefore, they are applying the same rule as allowing to run a TH-200 in lieu of the OEM TH-350 or TH-400. Even if GUMP ran the OEM GM transmission, there are already parts such as high performance valve bodies and torque converters in the market. Also, Sonnax and TransGo make high performance internal components for the OEM transmission.
