I thought that Gary might have run that motor. Has anyone bought that 'Cuda? One of my favorites.

Did the Protrans Smith Daytona run that motor?

I don't know about Gary's car.

To my knowledge, the Smith's Daytona was always a 4 barrel.

In regards to GTX John's comment about paying $100.00 to see His Royal
Rudeness say things to Jared's face, I will kick in $100.00 as well. But
more importantly, I will pay $200.00 to see him be rude to Jared in front
of Julies face. You must be very careful with professional accounts, They
will subtract your limbs, multiply your pain, divide what is left, then add a
match to the remains.

Another option , depending on where you live, is running NSS (Nostalgia Super Stock).
Due to the elimination of tracks and events here in Division 4 this is an option that my own car fits into very well.
Your car (as described by you) fits in without any modifications other than factory style hood scoop.
You can look up rules by sanctioning body in your local area.
These groups are getting bigger every year due to retired class cars, lack of National events due to quotas and their payouts are just as good if not better! BUT no NHRA WALLY.
TDRA 10 race series in texas
NDRL series in Div 3
NSS Inc
True Nostalgia
Victory NSS
and many others
Just something to think about, you could even yes it as a real time test on a NHRA SS combo until it is right.

Youre coming full circle for me, Stocker.
My car is virtually an NSS car as it sits, and I would LOVE to be a regular in that scene. Unfortunately I live in the Pacific Northwest where there is no NSS group active anywhere near me. Ive even reached out to Victory (IIRC) to see if they would be interested in doing a Western series. They werent dismissive, saying essentially if I wanted to start a series, they would be willing to help. Problem there is I still work a fairly demanding job that takes a good 50-hrs a week and has me traveling 20-ish weeks a year. I also have a wife that enjoys other activities. I barely have time to drag race, just dont have the time to dedicate to another level of this hobby. Not to mention I just really love racing, not sure Im a race promoter.

I was real excited that the NHRA Heritage series has a race at Woodburn OR. this year. I could run HotRod Eliminator (basic bracket class) and maybe D-Gas (10.60 index) if I added a mechanical throttle-stop to my car. Then my local Summit-Series points schedule came out?.. local double header that weekend.

Long story short: I would LOVE to be racing NSS. Theres just nothing near me. I havent ruled out getting involved and trying to start a series. Anybody here have experience grass-rooting a series to your area like this??

Perhaps I’ll poke around or start a thread aimed in this direction in the NSS section.
