Capitol is the highest north they come in D1, if heard from a few racers that run there it?s basically a grudge track now and somewhat unorganized, hopefully this announcement helps but for the most part all the IHRA D1 tracks disappeared (Richmond) or went to WDRA (MIR, US13, Keystone, Empire, Etc). So the D1 (or D3 as it?s called now) Capitol, Custom T?s, Dragway 42, Kuhnle Raceway Park, Pacemakers and Quaker City.

Just for clarification, there will be no pro-ams next year, just the three nitro jams with all the original classes (TD, TS, STK, SS, HR, SR, QR, JRS) and pro categories. The idea is to show potential marketing partners, track partners, and racers what IHRA class racing and national events would look like to get further support for a full class racing schedule in 2026. And to hand out the first of the original Iron Men.

I think it's great and will attend any race or nitro jam that's within 10 hours.

I haven't seen any specifics, but I really hope they return to all the original IHRA class indexes for 1/8th mile. No more of this 6.30 and 6.90 bull****. I want Super Rod to run 6.40 and Hot Rod to on a 7.00 index the God intended.

IHRA was great back in the day...I think they could be headed the right direction....I wasn't sure how they would get it going or if they would be able to . I was there when they made the announcement at PRI,ended up I was standing close to guy Darrell that owns the company sponsoring IHRA, was a regular guy, I would have never guessed and didn't... as I stood a few feet from him, he would be introduced as their multi million $$ sponsor.
I'm racing stock and super stock where I can have the most fun, the least time off work and if lucky enough to win.... win the most money

I am hopefully optimistic.. its a huge undertaking.. alot of planning.. nothing i would rather see happen than to get back to the way things used to be..

I'm really not sure, honestly. I'd have to imagine Darlington Dragway would get one. Outside of that, IHRA has 15 more 1/4 mile tracks in their roster, so they'll have a few to choose from. They don't really have any 1/4 mile options within spitting distance of me outside of Darlington, but several in the Midwest and Texas. Here's a few more options:

Muncie Dragway
Albany, IN

US 41 Dragstrip
Morocco, IN

State Capitol Raceway
Port Allen, LA

Capitol Raceway
Gambrills, MD

Albuquerque Dragway
Albuquerque, NM

Dragway 42
West Salem, OH

Quaker City Motorsports Park
Salem, OH

Kuhnle Motorsports Park
Thompson, OH

Kil-Kare Raceway
Xenia, OH

Edinburg Motorsports Park
Edinburg, TX

Penwell Knights Raceway
Odessa, TX

Great Lakes Dragway
Union Grove, WI

Wisconsin International Raceway
Kaukauna, WI
