Long ago I had a pair of MT slicks that would loose air through the sidewalls, you could watch the bubbles form. It had been suggested to try coating the inside with liquid dish soap and it worked. Is this still somewhat a common practice or more so with MT?

This is one of those things that you'll get multiple different opinions on.
I do it on any drag tires I mount tubeless. Plain blue Dawn. I pour it in and use a cheap paint brush to apply. |

I run Hoosier tires and have never had issues with the tires loosing air. I have heard of people using the dish soap method but I have never had to do that.

I have a pair of M/T ET streets that always went flat sitting just a short time. My problem was more about air leaking around the rim screws, but I put "Slime" tire sealant in them and they've only lost 3 lbs. since May. (Just sitting in the garage, on the car.) I wiped it around inside and concentrated on the beads.

Soaping the tires is worth it just to make it smell better when airing the tires down.
